Junichi Swope, Practicing Kinesiologist

Junichi graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia in 2016. Throughout high school, Junichi was a multi-sport athlete competing in wrestling, soccer, and baseball-where he won a national championship at age 14. His experience in athletics and a team environment led him to pursue an education in sports injuries, with an emphasis on corrective exercise and injury prevention. He has been able to apply his knowledge of injury prevention during his time as a student athletic trainer for the Douglas College men’s and women’s basketball team, as well as a head coach of the rep-level Burnaby Bantam Braves. Junichi is certified in STR: Soft Tissue Release, and has taken hands on workshops on shoulder and low back pain pathology. His rehabilitation philosophy places emphasis on patient education. He believes that if patients understand the cause and mechanism of their dysfunction, they will be better motivated and able to abide by their treatment plan outside of the clinic.

He is constantly reviewing academic literature, searching for the highest quality of evidence on injury rehabilitation protocols. Junichi believes that living a stress free, positive lifestyle with good nutritional habits is vital for recovery and a quick return to activity. When Junichi is not at the clinic, he enjoys the outdoors.
