Ayako Kihara was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, however she has spent an extensive amount of time living and studying in Canada. She is passionate about helping people and has a strong belief that massage therapy plays an important role in a healthy life style and can affect someone’s quality of life, both short term and long term.
Having completed 3000 hours of practical and theoretical training at Utopia Academy, BC in 2011, She is a licensed Registered Massage Therapist from College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia. Her competencies include applying modalities such as Swedish Massage/ Deep Tissue Massage; Trigger point release and Myofascial Release.
To further broaden her knowledge and skills set in all fields of manual therapy, she is currently undergoing training to complete her full certification in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD).
Most recently, Aya has completed her training in Graston Technique, the gold standard in Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue mobilization. Her enthusiasm and interest in natural forms of health treatments is progressive and is constantly evolving as she believes to be a great therapist, she needs to continually learn and develop new skills to help as many patients as she can.
In her spare time, she likes to exercise, spend time with friends, and travel.
