Welcoming Alexandra Goojha to Columbia Integrated Health Centre

Alexandra Goojha Registered Clinical Counsellor

Columbia Integrated Health Centre is proud to welcome Alexandra Goojha, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), to our multidisciplinary team. With a background that bridges both physical and mental health, Alexandra brings a unique perspective to supporting clients through life’s challenges.

From Respiratory Therapy to Counselling

Before becoming a counsellor, Alexandra spent nearly two decades working as a respiratory therapist in Calgary. It was during this time that she began to notice a gap in patient care.

“I’d see many patients going through a devastating diagnosis who came in for pulmonary testing, when really what they needed to start with was counselling,” she explained.

This realization motivated her to pursue her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, which she completed in 2020.

An Eclectic Approach to Therapy

Alexandra describes her counselling style as eclectic and client-centred. Rather than relying on one method, she tailors her approach to the individual.

“I might use elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,” she said. “If a client is presenting with trauma, I may bring in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). It really depends on what’s best for the person sitting in front of me.”

Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic pain, trauma, and self-esteem. She is also trained in supportive psychotherapy, mindfulness, and strength-based practices.

Drawn to a Holistic Health Model

Alexandra first came to Columbia Integrated Health Centre not as a practitioner, but as a patient.

“I just found that the clinic was a very warm, welcoming place with knowledgeable practitioners,” she shared. “Having all the different disciplines together is so important for holistic health. Now that mental health services are part of that, it’s a great place for people to come and tend to all their needs.”

A Safe and Supportive Space

Clients describe Alexandra as relaxed, compassionate, and empathetic. She believes the therapeutic relationship should always feel safe, supportive, and non-judgmental.

“Working on your mental health is never a waste — it’s an investment in your self-worth and moving forward in a positive direction,” she said.
