Columbia Integrated Health Centre is expanding its multidisciplinary care with the addition of Dr. Vahid Shahrokhi, an experienced medical doctor and practitioner of manual osteopathy in Vancouver.
Dr. Shahrokhi began his medical career in Iran, graduating in 1995 and working in emergency departments and his private clinic for nearly 19 years. After moving to Canada, he expanded his clinical expertise by earning certifications in musculoskeletal ultrasound and completing training as a Doctor of Manual Osteopathy Practitioner (DOMP).
A Holistic Approach to Manual Osteopathy in Vancouver
“I founded a diabetic society back home for education, prevention, and improving people’s lifestyle,” Dr. Shahrokhi said in a recent interview. “That whole background led me to osteopathy, which is great because we can provide care with a holistic view — helping people get rid of their pain and improve their quality of life.”
At CIHC, Dr. Shahrokhi will provide a range of osteopathic treatments, including osteopathy mobilization techniques, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and visceral manipulation. These therapies address issues such as chronic pain, headaches, vertigo, and digestive concerns.
Who Can Benefit from Manual Osteopathy?
“Many people can benefit from osteopathy,” Dr. Shahrokhi said. “We can help people with joint and muscle pain, lower and upper back pain, shoulder and neck pain, and even tension headaches, which are so common these days.”
He is also a certified posture correction and ergonomic specialist and emphasizes that osteopathy goes beyond treating isolated symptoms.
“Everything is connected,” he explained. “Compensation or compromise in any part of the body will affect the whole body.”
Experience You Can Trust
With nearly a decade of osteopathic practice in Vancouver and more than 18 years of prior medical experience, Dr. Shahrokhi brings a unique combination of clinical knowledge and holistic care to the CIHC team.
