Beatriz Barros rmt (cand)
Registered Massage Therapist (Cand)
Originally from Brazil and a resident of Vancouver for the past six years, Beatriz is currently studying at the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy (VCMT).
Her path to massage therapy was paved with a BA in Dance. Years of professional training provided her with a comprehensive firsthand understanding of human anatomy, (kinesiology) movement, and the significance of body awareness. She’s since transitioned from performing to healing, using her background in movement to help patients find the same balance and fluidity she once sought as a dancer.
In her sessions, she prioritize a relaxing and calming environment. She believes that effective treatments start with understanding a patient’s needs, a thorough assessment, and treatment plan. She often begins with a lighter approach to her techniques, by first addressing the current state of the nervous system and moving on to more focused work on the musculoskeletal system. The inclusion of fascia, muscles, joints, and other soft tissues is a key component of her treatments. She feels that this approach allows the body to become more receptive to deeper work, leading to more sustainable, comfortable, and prolonged results.
When she’s not at the clinic, she stays active by dancing, playing volleyball, and cycling. She also enjoys the quiet focus of bookbinding, a craft that allows her to channel the same patience and attention to detail that she bring to my massage practice.
We are excited to have her join the health team and wish her much success!
