Edmar Reyes rmt (cand)
Registered Massage Therapist (Cand)
Edmar is a recent graduate of West Coast College of Massage Therapy Program. He has been working and developing his skills as a bodyworker throughout his education. Previous education and training in kinesiology and sport sciences helped him excel in his training while studying in the intensive massage therapy program.
Edmar has a very adaptive style of massage utilizing nearly every technique that would be most effective wherever it was indicated. His approach is holistic and takes into consideration all the potential factors in each case. Intuition with his hands and his critical thinking is his strength. From Swedish Massage to deep-tissue, sports and rehabilitation, injury maintenance, relaxation, therapeutic and mobility techniques, Edmar uses his growing knowledge from his education and experience to provide quality patient centred care.
Outside of the classroom and clinic, Edmar currently has been competing in breakdancing for 21 years. He was ranked in the top 21 in Canada for qualifying for the 2024 Olympics. Outside of his main activity, he also spends a lot of time in the gym with a variety of strength and conditioning combinations from Olympic lifting, kettlebell and landmine training, yoga, functional strength training, calisthenics, plyometrics and many more. Most of his life has been based around a variety of different sports and physical activities.
He believes that body awareness is a key component for any sport but especially in breaking dancing as it requires full-body control, coordination and rhythm. Despite the numerous injuries he’s personally experienced due to continuously challenging himself in his sport, he strives to advance in his discipline and applies the knowledge from his education to become a better more rounded athlete.
Because of these injuries sustained from breaking dancing and other previous sports such as martial arts, wrestling and track & field, he has found the inspiration to pursue a professional career in health care. What started out as being a patient of rehabilitation has he led him down the path to helping others by becoming an RMT. He continues to train hard at his sport and continues to develop his craft as a bodyworker while awaiting his licensure as a Registered Massage Therapist.
We welcome Edmar and his passion to the clinic and wish him much success.
